About me
A little about me and my experience;
I am a fully trained, qualified and experienced Counsellor and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. My main qualifications are listed below however I also have several other certificates obtained through continued professional development.
- Diploma in Humanistic Person Centred Therapeutic Counselling
- Diploma in professional Studies
- Post Graduate Certificate Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ( low intensity)
- Certificate Counselling for Depression ( NICE guidelines approved)
- Certificate Clinical Supervision ( BACP endorsed)
I have worked with people experiencing a broad range of difficulties including;
- Anxiety
- Panic attacks ( with or without Agoraphobia)
- Depression
- Stress
- Bereavement and loss
- Relationship issues
- Childhood sexual abuse
- emotional eating
- low self esteem and confidence
I trained on a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Accredited program for four years and graduated in 1998. I have my own private practice with offices in Ipswich Felixstowe ( Suffolk) and London.
Additionally I have worked for the NHS seeing clients referred by GP's within their own surgeries where primarily I support and coach clients how to overcome Stress, Anxiety ( including panic attacks) ,low mood and depression using Cognitive Behavioural therapy .
I am also a volunteer Counsellor for MIND offering my services free of charge.
As a Person Centred Therapeutic Counsellor/Psychotherapist I believe in the uniqueness of each individual and am committed to helping each client within the therapeutic relationship towards a more fulfilling life and a greater sense of self.
I am bound by BACP Code of Ethics and Practice for Counselling and am subject to its complaints procedure. I am also required to monitor my counselling work with ongoing supervision.
Supervision is a formal arrangement for Counsellors to discuss their work regularly with a specially trained accredited Supervisor and ensures that I continue to address the needs of my clients and those ethical standards are adhered to throughout the counselling process.
Client confidentiality is maintained throughout.
